Junior Staff (Teen Leadership Program)

At Camp Anokijig , there are two considerations that greatly influence campers.  One is that the dynamics of our community is a motivating force for personal growth.  Just being surrounded by positive experiences makes a difference.  Two is that campers soon discover that this community is a second home to them and they want to be a part of it…..it is welcoming, fun, and they love it!  A by-product of this environment is that many of our teens want to become part of our Staff.  The entry-way for them to become a member of our Staff is by participating in our Teen Leadership Program.  Participating in the Junior Staff program is a pathway and future connection to Senior Staff and Director responsibilities.  Those individuals who are willing to give of themselves for others, practice a positive way of life, and set a good example for those they seek to work with,  will find this an enriching and enjoyable journey.  When a candidate is accepted, there is no fee required to participate in the Leadership Program.

NEW APPLICATION PROCESS 2026

Applications will now be completed through Camp Anokijig’s new database and registration system, UltraCamp. While we encourage and expect our Teen Leaders to take ownership of the application process, some parts of it must be completed with a parent or guardian. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Your parent/guardian will need to create an UltraCamp account using their name and contact information as the primary contact. Create account here: UltraCamp Portal

  2. Your parent/guardian will need to add you as a contact. Go to account overview and click “Add Parent/Guardian or Camper Contact.” For the purposes of the registration system, the contact type is “a child.”

  3. Visit the application at the following link: Junior Staff Application (Create UltraCamp Account First)

  4. A parent or guardian will need to fill out the beginning part of the application through the parent/guardian authorization section.

  5. You will then be responsible for answering the remaining application questions. While we welcome the parent/guardian to be part of this process, we expect that you will answer the questions.

We will contact you in the weeks following your submission with the status of your application

Please take note that these will be the dates when the waves are closed, and confirmations are sent to those who have applied.

First Wave – closes Sunday, February 1st, confirmations will be sent by February 16th

Second Wave – closes Sunday, February 15th, confirmations will be sent by March 2nd

Third Wave – closes Sunday, March 1st, confirmations will be sent March 16th

Following acceptance, committed sessions will be visible in your parent/guardian’s UltraCamp account. That being said, it is your responsibility to manage your commitments rather than relying on your parents.

Changes to your sessions may be made with sufficient notice, but we encourage you to keep your commitments where possible. Details on making changes will be made available following confirmation.

All staff will be assigned to All Staff Training (6/7 – 6/12) or one of the alternates at the time of confirmation. Alternate training sessions are available only to those who are still in school during All Staff Training or who have made prior arrangements to camp.

Camp Anokijig does not provide transportation for All Staff Training, but we can provide information about transportation alternatives if needed. Transportation on the camper bus routes may be available during camper sessions.

All staff will be required to complete several online video and quiz training sessions before arrival for training. These sessions will cover topics historically presented in lecture format during training. We can maximize our on-site time for skill improvement and hands-on activities by completing these sessions before arrival. This preparation will help ensure that all our staff members are well-informed and that the on-site training is valuable and enjoyable.

Feel free to share this information with anyone you know who might be interested.

We are already making exciting plans for the summer of 2026 and would love for you to be a part of them!
